Alexandra graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physiology from Michigan State University in 2013. She discovered her passion for serving the senior population while pursuing her second bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration at Northwood University and furthered her education at Madonna University with a concentration in geriatrics. Her love of working with seniors and health care studies made working in senior housing a natural fit for Alexandra. In 2016 she became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Michigan. Her belief is that our seniors have worked hard all their lives and deserve the opportunity to sit back and enjoy their retirement in a caring environment. She has worked in many different roles at Pomeroy Living since 2014 and became a member of the Pomeroy Living Orion family in 2018. Alexandra lives in Holly Michigan surrounded by her family and friends.
Justin was introduced to senior living by his mom who has worked in the industry since he was a child. At that time, he would visit her at work and had the chance to meet seniors and hear their stories first hand. Justin’s mom exposed him to an environment where he was able to see the positive impact that a community can have on a senior’s life. It is her inspiration and those experiences that guided his heart into this career path.
Justin joined Pomeroy Living in July of 2017 as the Sales and Marketing Director in Orion. Justin shares his drive and enthusiasm with everyone who comes through the doors of Pomeroy Living. He has a huge passion for seniors and a commitment to providing them with the best possible quality of life.
During Justin’s free time he likes to spend it with family and friends, or on the golf course. Justin is honored to be a part of the Pomeroy Living family and could see from the start Pomeroy Living is a different way to care.
Lorene joined the Pomeroy Living Orion Team on Day 1 in 2017. Living locally, she witnessed the community being built and knew that she had to become a part of this family.
Prior to being at Pomeroy Living, Lorene worked as a dental assistant for 30 years, including a Lake Orion Dentist for the last 15 years. Although she saw hundreds of patients at the office, her favorite patients were always the seniors. They had a way of brightening up her day, and she felt that she made a difference in theirs.
Being a resident of such a close knit town like Lake Orion since 1996, Lorene is still amazed at the various connections that she has within the Senior Living Community.
Lorene was born and raised in Wisconsin where some of her family still reside, including her 84 year old father. Her Wisconsin roots are hard to hide on Sunday afternoons when wearing her Cheesehead.
The joy of Lorene’s life is her family, especially her grandchildren.
Amy began her nursing career while still a high school student. Amy was fortunate to participate in a nursing program that collaborated with her high school education. This allowed her to obtain a nursing license at the age of 19 from Detroit Practical Nursing Center. With that license she immediately took a nursing position in a long-term care community. Amy’s heart has always been with seniors. From an early age, Amy visited her grandfather who resided in a nursing care center and knew the people who lived there needed her. She has a passion of caring for her residents as if they were her own family. Amy has spent her entire career in long term care. Amy has worked in many different roles at Pomeroy Living since 2007. We were excited when she chose to become part of the Pomeroy Living Orion team in 2019.
Melissa graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Gerontology from Madonna University. As an extension of that degree, Melissa obtained an Activity Therapy Certificate, as well as a Dementia Care Certificate. She continued her education by then becoming a certified Dementia Practitioner. For over 20 years, Melissa has been fulfilling the lives of her residents daily through her positive attitude and life enrichment activities.
Her love for the senior population came from quality time spent with her grandpa and the mentoring he provided. She cherishes all the memories, including driving her to and from school, and basketball practice, and of course attending all her basketball games. Eventually the roles were reversed when Melissa became his transportation, taking grandpa wherever he needed to go.
Living in Lake Orion, Melissa saw Pomeroy Living Orion being built and knew it would be an incredible experience working with the seniors and making a difference in the lives of everyone in the community where she lives.
Melissa graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baker College and went on to pursue her Master’s degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University. Melissa started her career in senior living in a skilled nursing facility in Lansing, Michigan where she was the Human Resources Director. After over 3 years in the skilled nursing facility, she made her move to Pomeroy Living Orion where she has been the Human Resources Director since August 2019.
Melissa loves getting the opportunity to spend time with the residents and hear about their past as she used to be able to do with her own grandparents. Pomeroy Living has felt like a natural fit from day one with their ‘we are all one big family’ philosophy for the residents and the staff.
Melissa has been married for 20 years and has a 24 year-old daughter and an 18 year-old son. Her daughter has graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and is currently studying for her LSATs. She has loved watching her son, Dominic, play soccer, traveling the country with him for the past 13 years doing the sport he loves.
Growing up, Bryant spent his summers on the construction site, learning all of his skills from his father, who is a very successful carpenter and tradesman. After graduating from Powers Catholic High School in Flint, Michigan, he spent 4 years working various jobs and determining where he wanted to go with his career. Ultimately, Bryant decided that construction was the path for him. Later on, while working as an apprentice and site manager, he felt unfulfilled and realized that helping people was his true passion. He chose senior living as the best way to continue on with his passion for skilled trades, as well as his desire to help people.
Above all else, Bryant has always been known as a family oriented person which directly relates to his dedication to our residents at Pomeroy Living Orion. He prides himself on his efficiency and reliability both at work and home. In his free time, he is an avid football fan, and enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.
Lois graduated from Hatley High School in Mississippi. After high school, Lois traveled to Michigan to be with her sister for what was only supposed to be one summer. When Lois arrived, she began working in the banking industry. After 17 years, her department was transferred out of town but Lois chose to stay home and raise her son Sam. Once Sam was in school full time, Lois decided she needed to get back to work. She accepted a part time job as a housekeeper in a nursing home where she worked her way up over the course of another 17 years.
Lois joined the Pomeroy Orion Team in 2020 after being told about the position from Melissa Houston, her former coworker and our current Life Enrichment Director. Lois fell in love with the community and the people inside from day one! Lois comes into work every day with a positive attitude and a passion for getting to know the seniors on a personal level. As long as it will make someone happy, the word “NO” is not in her vocabulary.
For Lois, family is everything. Her 11 year old grandson, TJ is her whole world. She enjoys spending every free moment she has spoiling him.
